Seating Charts vs. Escort Cards

You said your “I Dos.” The ceremony is over. Now it’s time to get your guests to the reception. But how do you get them to their seats? Luckily, you have a couple of options. You can put together a seating chart for your guests to check out before entering the reception. Or you can create escort cards for your guests to access and hold onto throughout the night. While these two options are quite different, both will successfully get your guests to their seats.

Seating charts have become more and more popular throughout the years. They’re organized, simple and stand out for all guests to see. You can even put your own creative touch on them and make them your own. For instance, how about using playing cards to represent each guest or simply drawing out a chart using chalk and a chalkboard? A seating chart gives you a lot of space to be creative and you can make it big enough for each guest to find their name with just a quick glance.

Escort cards are a bit more traditional but, depending on your level of creativity, can be a hit with your guests. Though it does take more time creating an escort card for each guest, it tends to be helpful because it allows your guest to keep the card on them throughout the reception in case they forget where their seat is when it comes time for speeches and their meal. Over the years, people have really shown their creative talent through escort cards. For example, how about using cupcakes or pinwheels as a decorative piece and attaching the guest’s name in an adorable way? You really can go above and beyond with escort cards. You can make them personal, cute, funny, stylish, etc. Whichever way goes best fits your theme.

When it comes down to it, the choice is yours. Either way, as long as your guests get to their seats and they continue to enjoy themselves, that’s all that matters. Seating charts or escorts cards. Whichever you pick I am sure that it will be done beautifully and your guests will love how you pull it off!
